I finally made it fit perfectly. The feeding bowl is just not square, more like slidly trapezoidal. As some birds still managed to spill the seeds, I added a wide hex grid.

The bigger bird always dig around like crazy throwing half of the seeds out of the tray, leaving the birdbuddy empty after only one day. The result is, birds eat on the ground and I won't get the pictures of them as well as a nicely growing lawn in the middle of flower bed.
To prevent the majority of the spilling, I design a cover which forms a lip around the seed tray.
On my picture is a version with little bird feet, just like on the front part of the seedtray but dirt gets stuck in their quiet well. The uploaded version has just a small Bird Buddy logo in one corner.
