This is a 29mm cylinder lock holder used for practice picking locks (for sport only). It was designed specifically with the Covert Instruments “CI Practice Lock” in mind. That lock can be found at:

https://covertinstruments.com/collections/training-gear/products/ci-practice-lock

It could probably be used with other locks of the same dimensions.

The dimensions of the “CI Practice Lock” are:

The overall lock size is 34mm diameter x 33.5mm long.

The central cylinder is 29mm wide by 26.65mm long.

I started with imagitronics, 29mm Mortise Lock Holder stl file. This stl can be found at Thingiverse. I kept the basic design, but made several changes:

  • Modified the inside at the base of the lock where you don't need supports when printing the model.
  • Added rotational stops which prevents the cylinder from turning inside the holder.
  • Added three storage slots. Two for holding picks, and one for holding up to three tensioner tools.

I want to thank imagitronics for openly sharing this design.

The model is designed to hold the cylinder snugly without a screw, but you can also use a 3mm dia. x 8mm long screw and hex nut to prevent the cylinder from slipping out.  Note: The lock fits perfectly in my holder without the screw and nut.

I used  Atomic Natural PLA, 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, 2 outside parameters, 7 top layers, 4 bottom layers, 15% Gyroid infill,  no supports needed.  Print time, approximately 3h, 30m.
