Having recently received a new EV company car I have got into the quagmire of EV charging. Specifically apps and charge cards. I wanted a way to store the cards I have already neatly in the car. Ages ago I saw a design that was based off of a Zippo lighter so have created this one to be similar.
I created it in onshape where you can also change the thickness and also the tolerance for the catch between the lid and base. For my MK3s I found 0.1mm tolerance was good but you may need more or less, I'd suggest going up/down in 0.05mm increments.
I have attached 3 STLs that have a 5, 10 and 15mm (internal) width. A 0.15-0.2mm layer height seemed to work well.
The onshape file also has a second version where the logo is separate for multi-material printing, although I haven't tried it yet, it would end up wasting more plastic in the purge tower than the print!
The hinge is drilled out to 2mm and then a length of filament inserted. I used a soldering iron (set to about 200-250C) with a conical tip to push down in the middle of the filament and weld it to either side.
