Features
- It fits a cheap Chinese 80W soldering iron that is also compatible with threaded insert adapter
- It is pretty stable, most of the slack is coming from the bearings themselves
- The soldering iron holder is a separate part for easy customization
- Stand swivels on two bearings for additional stability
- Fusion 360 archive (f3d) available.
Printing
You will need 8 of arm-seciton part and 1 of everything else.
Additional parts required:
- 10 x 608 bearings
- 12 x M3 6mm screws
- 4 x M3 10mm
- 2 x M3 14mm
- 18 x M3 threaded inserts
Known problems
These are the things I intend to fix one day but I think the device is usable nonetheless in the current form.
- The arm has no limits so it can go “hypermobile” - the middle hub ends up below the line of the arm
- The stand is not stable enough, I tend to clamp it to my desk with a wood clamp while in use
- No built-in cable management
- No easy way to detach the soldering iron - have to unscrew 4 screws (I use a dedicated one)
- The bearings have some slack, I have to try it with some more premium ones
