A simple container for organizing items on a desk. I really needed something to put small items and tools in on my desk, and since the long-awaited Minecraft cave-update is coming out later this year, I thought the organizer should resemble a mob from the update, and the axolotl seemed to be the best choice (I like the Warden but it's scary).
First off, yes, there are A LOT of parts. BUT, the print is actually quite easy to assemble. The main reason for the many files is to allow you to print parts with different colors just like the actual mob. Since l despise printing with supports and my cats always break my stuff, I made all of the ferns, legs, and the tail detachable. So in the case you break your axolotl's leg you can just print it a new one. As an added bonus, the tail can move on a hinge, and the axolotl's head can be removed, although I the axolotl looks better with the head attached.
My main recommendations for printing:
- Use PLA or PETG: the model is designed to hold together parts with enough tension without the need for super glue.
- 0.20 mm works for layer height, but watch out for the small connectors which require adequate adhesion.
- A precision knife is useful for trimming parts where the fit is too tight, although in my case I rarely needed it.
- In the stl files list, a file appended with MT mean that the part has been made slightly smaller to accommodate for tight fits.
Required tools: precision knife, maybe super glue. For filament colors, it works best to have unique colors for each of the following groups.
- Eyes - preferably Black or Dark Blue
- Mouth - Up to you, although Light Red or a variant of the Body color work both work well
- Ferns. Dorsal Fin, and Inner Tail - Usually a contrasting color to the body
- Head, Legs and Main Body - use same color for both
- Connectors - Can be same as Main Body or relatively close
General Instructions:
The photos show the general procedure.
For the Head: The Lower and Middle Ferns [D and E] slide onto connectors [B-left, C-right], and the resulting pieces are connected into the side holes on Head [A]. The Top Ferns [H] attach to the connectors [G] which are pushed through the lid [F] from the underside. Eyes [I] and Mouth [J] can simply be pushed into slots on front of [A].

For the Main Body: The Leg connectors [L] poke outward from the inside of [K], and the Legs [M] are then slid on. [NOTE: feel free to cut at least 50% of the leg connector. The excess is just there if you need it].

For the Tail: Clamp [Q] and [R] shells to Left and Right of main Tail [P], and slide the whole thing onto the Tail Hinge [O] [NOTE: there is both a short and a long Tail Hinge provided]. Slide the group through the rear of the axolotl and push the dowel [N] through the hole of [O] into the circular holder in the back of [K].

Main Lid: Simply clamp the Dorsal Fin [T} onto the top of the Main Lid [S]. You are done!

Also remember to slide the head onto the main body lol it's easy.
This is my first project so be nice lol
