This is V2 of experimental fin.  Video here

(V1 was essentially the same design but had the tuttle bolts welded to the steel plate but the welds failed on first test, unfortunately no video)

Annular fins in theory should offer more lift but low draft so should be ideal for light wind/shallow sailing.   The penalty is increased drag at speed.  Whist the fin got going easily, the drag was huge at about 20knots.   However, I was happy the fin survived the loads of windsurfing.   Its not designed to last long, just to test concept.

Uploading the design here to show how it was made for those interested.   You can see other improved designs by looking at my other uploaded models.

It used a piece of 150mm PVC, shaped the leading and training edge of the PVC with a belt sander.    For the steel I used 1.5mm stainless sheet, then glued (Araldite) the 3D print on.  The concept is the bolts all put the 3D print under compression and make it much stronger.

I printed in PETG but you could no doubt use stronger materials.   Would highly recommend adding one or more layers of fibreglass over the annular section to increase longevity.
