This slightly modified main plate for the Nextruder was motivated by a few filament jams, where flexible filament (Shore 90A) got stuck between the extruder main gear and the stepper motor.

This path is now blocked, which should hopefully make future jams less of a hassle to fix.

I printed the modified main plate with supports for the bridge part, using a top Z contact distance of 0.1 mm.

If you run into issues with the main version, such as the extruder gear surface rubbing against the main plate “bridge”, try out the alternative versions with 0.3 mm of additional clearance (h_bridge=2.9) or 0.6 mm of additional clearance (h_bridge=2.6).

— UPDATE 11.04.2024 —

  • Added a version with 0.3 mm of additional clearance to the extruder gear surface, as suggested by @matmx.

— UPDATE 03.05.2024 —

  • Renamed the version with 0.3 mm of additional clearance to “main-plate_R2_improved_h_bridge=2.9”
  • Added a version with 0.6 mm of additional clearance to the extruder gear surface (h_bridge=2.6)
