This ½" shrub adapter is specifically designed for Hunter sprinkler nozzles, but Rain Bird nozzles will work too. Pictured with a Hunter MP Rotator. Note that the nozzle does NOT make contact with the base of the adapter as to ensure tight contact with the internal cavity of the Hunter nozzle.
I've successfully printed in both PETG and ASA and both appear to be leak free, however I'm currently only using ASA for overall durability reasons. Initially, I thought I may have to resize for ASA/ABS due to shrinkage, but it does not appear to be a problem. As is good practice, wrapped ¼" threads with teflon tape prior to screwing on the adapter. Printed at 0.15mm layer height (for good thread integrity), 5 layer perimeter, randomized seam placement, and 25% infill. No supports needed. Gcode only provided for informational purposes.
Design notes:
I had a difficult time finding the correct sizing for the male threads that mate with the sprinkler head. After some trial and error, this is what I came up with in Fusion360:
