My take on one of Starfield's most unique looking spaceship.

When I saw the Guardian in Starfield a few weeks ago, the first thing I did was search online to see if anyone had modeled it for 3D printing.

When I saw that no one had, I opened Shap3r and 15 hours of work later, here it is!

As this is my interpretation of the game's design (I only have reference videos, I don't own the game), some details are missing (the ring around the engine block) and some have been modified (the cockpit is a little more aggressive).

It is 95 cm high and 30 cm long.

Oh yes, it's made for the MMU3!

The model is divided into five parts: Command_module (CM), Center_wing (CW), Top_wing (TW), Bottom_wing (BW) and Bottow_wing_tip (BWT).

Color indications:

  • Each "inside" part is gray
  • Each "upper" part is white
  • The CM window is black, of course.

Printing:

  • The .step file must be divided into several parts, simply set the appropriate extruder.
  • 0.3mm height
  • Bottom_wing, Top_wing and Center_wing parts need supports
  • Print each part of the wing on its "top" side (white side facing the printing plate) so that the unavoidable stairs are inside the wing once assembled.
  • Each piece must be printed twice and mirrored, for a total of 10 pieces (excluding pegs)
  • You'll need 2 squares, 12 small and 13 large pegs. These are very useful for aligning the pieces before gluing.

Construction:

  • You'll need clamps! (lots and lots of them)
  • Put all the pegs in their final positions and glue them in place
  • Glue the two cockpit halves together
  • Then glue the central wing parts together (make sure the pivot is free!)
  • Glue the two wingtips to their respective wings, then glue the two complete lower wing halves together.
  • Do the same with the top wing.
  • When everything's dry, you can glue the bottom and top wings to the center wing.

Enjoy !
