I was asked if I could make a treasure chest that could open and close for a children’s pirate play scene and after a little trial and error I designed and printed my own treasure chest with a working hinge.
I printed this at 0.3mm layer height in PETG Using organic supports.
It prints as two pieces which clip together to make the working hinge.
I had a small issue with the hinge occasionally snapping when trying to assemble it and found heating up one side of the hinges with a heat gun before putting the two pieces together helped prevent this.
