Thumb grip for the Sony A6500 camera that mounts to the hot shoe. Works great if you have larger hands, especially when paired with the SmallRig.
After accidentally pressing buttons with my thumb while shooting, I started searching for a thumb rest for my A6500. Of course I wasn't going to buy one as that would defeat the purpose of having a printer. While I found quite a few models for other camera models, none of them were a good fit for the A6500 or my hand, so I went to the drawing board and designed this one.
This interfaces with the hot shoe and provide a comfortable rest for your thumb to assist with a better grip on the camera. The grip does cover the mode dial, which I did intentionally as I shoot in Manual.
Printed on a Sovol SV06: (these settings worked for my printer, but should adjusted to your own printer)
- Filament: Elegoo wood filled PLA (other PLA or PETG would work fine, I was experimenting with eh wood filled at the time)
- Layer height: 0.12mm
- Nozzle: 0.3mm
- Supports: Organic
- Infill: 30% Gyroid
DISCLAIMER: I am not a mechanical designer, I just like to fiddle to see what I can do. This is a inexpensive solution to a ergonomic issue I was encountering with my expensive camera. The model seems to work. I take no responsibility for any damages that could occur from this model being used.
