Telescoping fibre-glass poles were originally designed as fishing rods, but they are also used by radio amateurs to erect antennas in the field. A popular brand of these poles was sold by Lambdahalbe in Germany.

Owners of such a pole might sooner or later experience a broken screw cap. It happened to me on two different poles. The original screw cap has a design flaw. It is too thin at the lower rim and that's were it breaks. The vendor does not supply replacement parts. I have designed a replacement screw cap with higher wall thickness.

Depending on the length of the pole also the diameter will differ. This cap fits the 6m pole distributed by Lambdahalbe. It could easily be scaled to other mast diameters. The key step is to determine the thread (diameter and pitch) and change the design accordingly. This design uses an ISO M42x1.5 thread.

I have printed it both in PLA and PET-G, 100% infill, no supports. The thread can be tightened more smoothly with the PLA version. That's why I recommend PLA.

EDIT 06-FEB-2024: After I had published this design I learned that others have come up with similar designs:

The problem of broken end caps is more widespread than I thought!

EDIT 27-JAN-2025: I broke the cap again, so I've made a stronger version with thicker walls. Use the file "screw cap_2" for a more durable version!

Use the file "screw cap_3" for a more durable version with better grip
