GOAL

The goal was to address two issues. As the filament coils in a buffer, the tension springs back slightly and forces the filament out of the Lane Module, blocking the selector. Loading filament by hand  causes the filament to push past the modules, requiring pushing back each one once loaded.

DESIGN

Added a simple magnetic based hinge to the Tradrack lane module which is pressed down during loading sequence. Once unloaded, the hinge moves up and blocks the filament.

WHAT TO PRINT

There are three variations, one has the slot that is continuous like the original that allows you to slide out the module in case of replacement. I recommend printing this with mouse-ears brim, or std. brim.

The second rigid variation does not have a continuous slot, which requires removing more lane modules if they need to be replaced. This is an easier print and a bit stronger.

The third model is based off the rigid variant that incorporates a microswitch for filament position tracking.

EDIT: Added a rigid v2 version, less flex overall, downside is no ability to swap module individually.

ISSUES

The only issue I Know of is the selector may just slighty rub against the raised filament stop bump on the main assembly. You can file down the back of the selector if its an issue.

PRINT SETTINGS

I use standard voron print settings at .15 layer height.

verify your z seam is not on the hinged portion of the hinge.

INSTALLATION

Break off the small support from hinge

install 2 opposing 6x3 magnets, one in the hinge and one in the lane module and install Bearing.

SETUP

For the software side I use Happy Hare with an encoder. Set parking distance to 42.5 mm for unloading filament.
