When you are building battery packs from 18650 cells and you want to lay them out end to end the normal way todo this is to stand two cells side by side and to then weld a tab across and fold.

This results in a small part of the nickel strip hanging out the side of the two cells

This results in a potential for a short between cells
Using this jig the two cells are held at a right angle with a small offset that will let you weld them together using a shorter piece of strip

Then when you fold them the nickel strip being 100% inside the OD of the two cells.

Prints without supports
Once you have the two cells welded together then you can use this little press to tape the join
