I always wanted to make cookie cutters but never wanted to deal with storing them because they all have unique shapes that makes them difficult to store easily without them getting tangled up or even lost. So I basically put an identical base on the bottom of all these cookie cutters, then made a container to contain them in as if they were pringles. This gave me a place to store my cookie cutters without them getting lost or messy.

To make this you'll need to print:

1 Sleeve Base

1 Sleeve Lid

2 Sleeve Walls

1 each of Slotted Left and Right Walls (the slide with a cut out slot should be on the bottom of      the build plate)

Any number of any cookie cutters, including your own design on the same base

To assemble this, you may want some superglue, but it is not strictly needed.

Assembly instructions:

  1. The Sleeve Base has  protrusions on each corner surrounding insertion slots for the walls, 2 of those protrusions are smaller, this is to allow for the cookie cutters to slide through that spot. The slotted walls have small slits cut out of them, for the same purpose. Insert the slotted walls into the insertion slots surrounded by the smaller protrusions with the slits in the slotted walls facing the bottom. I would suggest using a cookie cutter, or a cutter base to make sure that they can slide through the slits in the slotted walls.
  2. Insert the 2 Sleeve Walls into the other insertion slots in the sleeve base.
  3. Insert all 4 walls into the insertion slots in the Sleeve Lid
  4. Test to make sure you can easily insert a cookie cutter into the sleeve and remove it (you may need to sand down some edges on the cookie cutter, I designed these for my printer's tolerances specifically). Once you are satisfied, you can glue the sleeve together if you want, but if it stays together well enough, you might not need to glue it.

If you want to use the cutter base to design your own cookie cutters for this sleeve, just make sure the cutter design fits inside of the open space on the inside of the bottom of it. The part that sticks up from the base is for adding a label in case the shape of any individual design isn't clear.

I believe this is a good idea here, but I don't think I have created the best possible version of this idea. The base of the cookie cutters looks square, but they are not, one side is very slightly bigger than the other side.

I made a playlist of me designing some of these cookie cutters:
