Free vs. Paid Version

A free version of this design is available on Printables. This free design contains only one 10×15 cm frame and three lithophane designs: Darth Vader, Ironman and Totoro.

The paid version contains two frame sizes 10×15 and 13×18 cm and many more lithophane designs.

How to Print

The frame can be printed without supports, and no glue or screws are needed for its assembly. On a well-calibrated printer, everything can be printed so that the frame easily snaps together.

It is advisable to print the frame (files "box" and "frame") using dark-coloured PLA with a standard layer height of 0.20 mm. Lithophane images should be printed in white PLA with a layer height of 0.10 mm (or better) and 100% infill. I recommend Prusament Galaxy Black and Vanilla White. Each file was tested on standard Prusa MINI+ with a 0.4 mm nozzle.

Assembly

The following non-printable components are needed for each lithophane picture:

• Warm white LED strip 4.8 W/m, 12 V, 60 LED/m, IP20. 2×100 mm for a 15×10 cm frame and 2×150 mm for a 18x13 cm frame. 
• Barrel jack 5.5×2.1 connector with an outer diameter of ⌀12mm.
• Black and red wire for connecting the LED and the connector.
• Power supply 12 V/1 A with DC jack 5.5×2.1 mm (the LED strip of this size requires just under 1 W so you can use one power supply with several pictures).
• (optional) DC splitter 1 male to 4×female 5.5×2.1 mm.
