So I wanted to build a compact all-in-one router + server solution for traveling, and this is the best x86-based mini PC I could find at the time being with all my requirements. Although the cpu never goes over 54C, the AsiaRF mt7915-based mini-pcie wifi card could get up to 70C with the stock bottom cover on.
I also came up with a solution to also accommodate a stripped down (pcb only) crucial bx500 2.5" 1TB SSD (compatibility with other ssd not guaranteed) friction fit to the bottom cover.
Here are all the parts I used:
- crucial bx500 2.5" 1TB SSD
- noctua NF-A4x10 PWM fan
- one of these Micro JST MX 1.25mm 4Pins for the fan https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09DYLY95R?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
In the picture, the orange heatsink I used on the wifi card is 10mm high. I had to use a dremel to cut out the data part of the stock sata + power cable and used a Silverstone thin sata to get in the way of the heatsink.
I like foss, so I modelled this in blender
