This is a replacement for a hotshoe cover, there're two options as you can see:
-tight (2mm of height on edges)
-loose (1mm of height on edges) that will majorly stay in it's place thanks to a metal spring type part of your camera's hotshoe.
I'm not entirely sure if it's put on every brand, so if you don't have it (look at the added photos), it's better to choose a tight option.
