This buttonhole sewing foot attachment makes sewing straight buttonholes a breeze. It grips the fabric and can only slide back and forth. This allows you to make a very tight slot without worrying that you might cross your previous stitches when accidentally moving your fabric.

There are comparable foots available for your machine but this add-on for a standard presser foot prints very quickly and works quite well to achieve the same end result.

The bottom of the foot is textured (yes, it still prints well) and the top surface has a tiny groove modelled in it to trick the slicer into printing parallel lines making it even slipperier for the foot (although a drop of lube makes it perform better on my old janky machine).

Just place the jig over the place of the buttonhole and if you need a specific length, you can mark this beforehand.

  1. Start at the back right corner and perform a short pitch 2mm zigzag on the right side towards you.
  2. Sew a couple stiches backwards with a short pitch full width (5mm) zigzag
  3. Sew the rest of the length backwards with a short pitch 2mm zigzag on the left side
  4. Sew a short pitch full width (5mm) towards you to finish the loop

And lastly, cut your slot open with a knife, making sure not to cut the sewing threads in the process.

Enjoy!
