Found ants were getting into the outdoor cat dish, so I made this in order to help keep them out of the food. Fill the lower section with water to create a moat. Smearing some vaseline on the rim of the lower tray also helps. Screws together to make it easy to take apart for cleaning.
Screw threads were very tight and took some work to get them going together smoothly. I suggest using some X-Y contour compensation in this area so they fit easier.
You'll need to coat it in epoxy to make it food safe.
Update 7/12/24: Resized the screw threads on the lower section so the two parts go together more easily.
