How to use

  • print left and right holders and 2 hooks
  • glue hooks into the notch at the back of the holders
  • attach to the peg board 3 slot away (see photos)

Features

  • seamless fit (because it is derived from a 3D scan)
  • print without support
  • simple shape makes it print in about 1h
  • good strength ensured by separating hooks and holders

Optimal printing orientation is shown below:

I also made one for the PS4 DualShock controller

How I designed it

I saw many PS5 controller holders for IKEA pegboard but none of them fit the controller perfectly. When I tap the holder, the controller on it also shakes where I see space for improvement.

Recently, I see an 3D scan of the PS5 controller uploaded by another user. I try to simplify its shape and re-model it using a CAD software but soon found it is quite difficult. I cannot copy the shape using the sketch and extrude workflow. It would be better if I can modify from the scan.

I go learned blender and here is the general steps of how I created the model

  • perform re-topology to make the mesh easier to work with
  • apply solidify modifier to the surface to the desired wall thickness
  • add a flat surface to allow it adhere to the print surface without support
  • add a hole for attach the hook using a regular CAD software (boolean subtract)

Hope you like it~
