This holder is a completely parametric model to adapt a pair of paper solar eclipse viewing glasses to work as a solar filter for a smartphone camera. This should work with any smartphone, with or without a camera bump, and with or without a case (instructions and parameter setting provided below).
STL provided is for an iPhone13 Pro with a Torras case for reference. Feel free to DM me or drop in the comments your parameters that work and phone model, and I will update them in the chart below along with your phone model.
Note: DO NOT look or point your phone's camera directly at the sun without the proper solar protection in the form of solar viewing glasses or specialized solar filters. Follow all instructions on your glasses or filter. Also ensure the glasses / filter meet the proper certifications. Note a similar setup worked for me last year for photographing the annular eclipse, but YMMV and be mindful of your phone's thermal sensors.

Parameters:
Note: Round measurements up to the nearest 0.5mm
| Parameter | Description | How To Measure |
|---|---|---|
| PhoneWidth | Width of phone | Measure width of phone |
| PhoneThick | Thickness of phone without camera bump | Measure thickness of phone without camera bump |
| PhoneCamBump | Thickness of phone including camera bump | Measure thickness of phone including camera bump If no bump, set to PhoneThick |
| CamBumpHigh | Height of camera bump | Measure overall camera bump in Y-axis |
| CamBumpWide | Width of camera Bump | Measure overall camera bump in X-axis |
| CamPosX | Position of camera bump relative to phone in X-axis | Measure from left edge of phone to left edge of camera bump |
| CamPosY | Position of camera bump relative to phone in Y-axis | Measure from top edge of phone to top edge of camera bump |
| GlassHeight | Height of solar gasses with frame | Measure lens frame from top to bottom at tallest point |
| GlassLensToEdge | Width of frame to the side of the lens | Measure from outer edge of the lens to the fold for the temple piece |
| GlassThick | Thickness of solar eclipse glasses | Measure thickness of unfolded glasses |
| LensHeight | Height of lens | Measure the height of a lens inside the frames |
| LensWidth | Width of lens | Measure the width of a lens inside the frames |
Note: Parameters are designed to center the lens to the camera bump, you may need to adjust the positioning accordingly if the lens is too small for your camera's bump
Instructions
- Set up parameters, slice and send to printer. Note, some supports may be required depending on your camera opening width and bridging capability.
I printed in Prusament PLA, 0.20mm layer height, 10% gyroid infill
- Test fit phone, test to ensure that adapter doesn't block camera's view

- Cut solar glasses as shown
Note: it doesn't matter if you use the right or left lens as long as its the same one you took the measurements from and the lens and frame cover the entire opening in the adapter.
- Insert the lens in the slot, ensure it seats all the way in and there's no light bleed
Important: ensure the glasses are facing the correct outward orientation
- Slide assembly over your phone

- Go outside and test
- Happy eclipse photographing
