UPDATE see: Improved Anti Backlash Nut in OpenSCAD
This anti backlash nut is based on nuts I bought for the HyperCube Evolution (see these nuts in the custom bracket I created here). Note that an updated and improved version with less backlash can be found here.
As my Tr8x4 rods have not arrived yet, I designed this nut to play with the anti backlash concept.
Note that this design uses the following libraries:
- Threads, found at: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1938150
- Chamfered primitives, found at: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1305888
Edit 20/11/2017:
Updated the text to include the link to the improved and updated anti-backlash nut.
Print Settings
Printer:
Anet A8/Ultimaker 3
Resolution:
0.08 - 0.12 - 0.16
Infill:
50%
Notes:
Printed at 0.16 initial layer and 0.12 for all other layers; came out perfect, although a bit tight.
Later printed on Ultimaker 3 with 0.06 resolution in Nylon and POM. The printed objects were not as good as the machined version, so I left this as an interesting experiment.
Post-Printing
The top nut can use a little sanding to perfectly fit into the top cylinder.
Note to include a spring with 10 mm inner diameter with length 20 mm.
