This has 4 main components:

  • The Chain - This is the great interlink chain model from Jack
  • The Cup - wide side up, 1 clip for the cup to hang on
  • The Catchment - this slots into a waterstorage tank and the chain is looped down through it and retained in the tank with another cup.
  • The Hanger - This links into the gutter downpipe fitting and the clasp stops it collapsing.

    Construction:
  1. You will need to print enough fo the 40mm chain links to complete your full length
  2. Clip the hanger clasp into the hanger
  3. Loop a link of chain through the hanger and tie it off to itself
  4. Slot it through the downspout of your gutter
  5. Link the first cup to the fisrt straight link below the hanger, the cup clip sits within the link
  6. Repeat the process down the length of the chain, leaving about 2-3 links between each cup
  7. On your bottom cup, add as many chain links as you need to make it through the catchment piece and the water storage lid, add an extra cup or hang a wieght on the chain to stop it from coming out of the storage lid.
  8. Mount the lid and link the top chain to your hanging 1st cup.
  9. Align the catchment with your rainchain so it hangs perfectly vertically

Updated: After field testing the original design, it was found the two clip system just didnt work, the wieght of the cups and chain under wind shear meant the clips slid out and the whole thing fragmented. The new version is thicker clips, bigger holes and the integrity of the whole rainchain now depends on the chain itself.
