This is a tiny collet to hold flexible or irregularly shaped pens, that was designed with an Axidraw plotter in mind. It keeps pens centered and perfectly aligned for ink changes,  and it fits perfectly in the Axidraw's holder.

This is based on the collet I designed for the Prusa plotter adapter I made a while back, and after iterating a few designs, I came back to this because it worked really well. For it to work on the Axidraw it was downsized significantly and I added a ridge that fits in the plotter's pen holder for alignment. But the design principle is the same.

Works great with Stabilo 88 fineliners and with Bic pens. Anything much thicker than that is not going to fit.

Printing

This prints really well and doesn't use a lot of filament. No supports are needed. I had great results printing at 0.2 layer height with the “SPEED” input shaper profile on a MK4 with a 0.4 nozzle. I printed the  outer part with a brim for stability.

If your printer is a bit sloppy (dimensionally), the threads might be a bit rough; you can use some wax to help them go smoother or you can scale down the inner screw a tiny bit, but usually after 3 or 4 uses the threads loosen up a bit.

Let me know how this works for you.
