The Golden Snitch from the Harry Potter series of books and movies is a golden spherical object that is one of the elements of the game of Quidditch, a magical sport practiced by wizards. It is the smallest piece of equipment in the game and plays a crucial role because catching the Snitch by one of the Seekers ends the match and earns the team that caught it a whopping 150 points. The Snitch is small, fast, and capable of moving freely around the pitch, making it very difficult to catch. It also has magical properties that make it difficult to locate and catch.
