A lowcost (ca. 10€) but rugged spectroscope based on a folding kit made out of paper.
You'll need a kit of “Das Handspektroskop” by AstroMedia per spectroscope.
Instructions:
(The kit you'll need comes with a set of instructions in german or english. You can use that one for building the spectroscope.)
- Print it standing upright without supports (dark filament colour strongly suggested).
- Cut the scale to size and push it into the long slit on the back side of the model.
The small opening in the black part should align with the middle of the pertruding rectangle. - Push the lens into the rounded part on the front of the model
- Push the small transparent foil in the small slit near the lens. The foil can be inserted in 2 different ways, but only one way works. You'll have to try this out.
How to use:
Look through the lens and aim the opening of the spectroscope on your light source. Don't move the spectroscope. Look towards the right on the scale of your spectroscope. You should see the spectra of your light source on the scale now.
I'm not affiliated with AstroMedia in any way and do not recieve compensation by the company.
