Don't you just hate those little burrs and blobs that you get on the top surface of your otherwise perfect prints? Or those edges that have come out just a little too sharp with excess filament? I do - so I found myself using some off-cut support material with a grid to polish them, without ruining their surface sheen. Then I thought, Why Not Make Some Expicity?

So here are the models - they are ideal at smoothing surfaces, and they won't scrape away Teh Shiny.

Use a softer PLA (ie. not PLA+!) as you want these to be less hard than the prints you are polishing, that's why I used some nearly-finished Silk PLA.

To get the effect, use your slicer's infill as follows:

  • Walls - 3
  • Top - 5 (for the handles)
  • Bottom - 0 (to expose the infill)
  • Infill - 40% Grid
  • Sparse infill Line Width - 2 x nozzle diameter (eg. 0.8 mm for 0.4 mm nozzle)

Resize them as you see fit, broader, narrower, thicker, thinner etc. And when they wear out - just print some more!

Enjoy!
