Print with PETG, Nylon, or other non-brittle material. I would suspect that PLA may crack over time. I advise against CF reinforced filament, I tried it and it squeaked terribly against the springs. The first set I printed at 100% infill, the second set was 50% but 7 perimeters. Both were strong enough. Make this sturdy. No supports needed.
These will help isolate the vibration from your buttkickers from the floor and keep it in your rig where you want to feel it.
I used 5 of these; one on each corner then one in the rear center. This worked well as I am 190lb and the rig is about 150lb, most of the rig weight is on the rear.
With these installed, getting in and out of the rig is slightly more fun. The rig will move around but don't worry, the mounts will not fold sideways. At least they have not for me.
With these installed the haptic feedback is more intense, and when the force feedback wheel tosses you around, the rig will shake side to side with you. I find it more immersive and fun, YMMV.
I tried to keep the loading for each foot between 50 and 70lbs. Too little load and they will do nothing, too much and they will compress too far and do nothing. Adjust the quantities to your needs.
BoM: (all from Amazon)
5 cast aluminum 4040 90deg profile connectors.
1 8 pack Ceiling Spring Vibration Isolator Hangers, 110lbs. There are various names from different brands but you'll find them. They have a black frame, chrome spring, and red cushions.
10 M8x16 socket head cap screw. 5 cap head bolts can be used but 5 must be socket head.
5 M6x40 socket head cap screws
5 M8 T nuts for 4040 profile
5 M8 nuts
10 M8 flat washers, the larger and thicker the better. These washers are distributing most of the load between the frame and isolator, so don't skip these.
5 sets of printed upper and lower foot parts,
Assembly
1: Prep; Remove the alignment tabs from one side each of the 90 degree profile connectors. x5
2: Disassemble the isolation hangers to the individual components. x5
3: Assembly top mount; Place the large flat washer from the isolation hanger onto a M8x16 socket head cap screw, insert the screw through the 90deg profile connector that still has the tabs. The large washer should just fit between the tabs. Secure the M8x16 screw using a M8 washer and a M8 nut. Refer to the picture for the orientation. x5
4: Push the “spring mount top” printed part onto the head of the M8 socket head cap screw. Align the small vertical flat so that it is visible when installed. Refer to picture, this is where the cut end of the spring rests. x5
5: Use a M8x16, a flat washer, and a 4040 T nut to connect the “assembly top mount” to your sim rig. The image shown is on a 8040 rig and this is the minimum height of installation. If you want the rig to sit higher, use the bottom T slot. x5
6: Assembly bottom mount; Drive the M6x40 socket head cap screw into the “spring mount bottom” until the screw bottoms out. The purpose of this screw is to support the printed part against off axis force. Place the spring onto the Assembly bottom mount, then rotate until the spring cut end stops against the vertical feature. This will ensure the the spring is fully supported. x5
7: Final assembly; Block the rear of the rig up on something to create clearance to install the springs.
8: Place Assembly bottom mount directly under the Assembly top mount then align the cut end of the spring with the vertical feature on the “spring mount top” to ensure that the spring is fully supported. Lower the rear of the rig onto the mounts. Double check that the springs are seated correctly on the mounts. It's ok if the alignment is a little off, these springs are not high precision components and do not need their ends to be perfectly axial. x3
9: Repeat for the front of the rig.
10: Turn it up! You should not get yelled at.
