Disclaimer: I don't take any responsibility of anything. Especially regarding this device :).
Anyway, lapping CPUs has been a bit extreme side of PC hobby for 20 years or so. Most of the time I don't bother but this time I wanted to see if this has any effect in todays CPU and I also wanted to make the lapping process easier. So I designed this enclosure or exosceleton for the CPU.
Results: for 5800x with a crappy aluminum waterblock no change in temps because the waterblock is the limiting factor (max 90C with limit). But Ryzen Master's curve optimizer went from -27 to -30 after lapping so might be something. Or not…
Air cooled 3700x on the other hand had a 3-5C drop in Cinebench.
Assembly: needs 2 M3 nuts and 2 40mm M3 bolts. Take care not to force anything during assemby!
Happy lapping (voiding warranty obviously…) :)
