Die socket is for 12mm. The platform is a 'Lore' (made by OLoB_Labs) in case the players wish to use the playmat lore counter instead and so it doesn't look out of place narratively. When lore reaches 20 you can place that D20 on the bottom tentacle and then place another D20 on the platform.
Please make sure your card is straight and flat as it may have some difficulty sitting in the socket.
