Pinhole camera for use with 4x5" sheet film holder.

Camera parameters:

  • Focal length:                              80 mm
  • Recommended pinhole size:   0.377 mm (I use 0.4 mm)
  • Aperture (f-number):                212 (for a 0.4 mm pinhole, the f-number is 200)

I recommend drilling a hole into a thin 30 x 30 mm plate and gluing it to the designated spot on the front of the camera (as shown in the photos).
The film holder is attached to the camera using two 20 mm wide dual lock Velcro straps for secure and reliable mounting.

The camera features a 49 mm diameter thread at the front near the pinhole, allowing the use of additional color filters.
To simplify the camera design, a dark slide of film holder is used instead of a mechanical shutter.

To determine the optimal exposure time for pinhole cameras, I recommend using my model of the Pinhole Exposure Calculator.
