Print the dowels at 40% infill to give them some strength.
I used expanding glue, e.g Gorilla Waterproof Glue, in the dowel holes so the assembly Is stiffer. Use cable ties or clamps to keep the parts in place while the glue expands and cures. Use a knife to cutaway any overflow.
