One cool thing the XL can do is print different materials in the same print job. One of the best applications of that is printing a model in PLA and the supports for it in PETG*. Since PLA and PETG* don't bond, the advantage is the supports can have zero separation from the model (Vs .01mm separation for same material supports) which produces a nicer finish to the overhangs. For this model that means the bottom of the nose finishes very clean.

PETG needs a higher build plate temperature, typically 80°C but that is too hot for PLA prints. So, I set the build plate temp. to 73°C so the supports will hold to the plate but the model's first layers won't be a mess.

I have slightly modified the key ‘peg’ on the base because when I printed and tried to fit the bust and base together they didn't fit correctly. ( I have not tested my my but I think it'll solve the issue)

IMPORTANT:

  • Print on a smooth build plate to ensure no build plate adhesion failure (satin sheet may work but I make no promises with that.
  • When slicing this file confirm you have your correct filament brand nozzle temperatures set for PETG* in tool #1 and PLA in tool #2 and if you change it confirm Filament > Bed > temperature is set to 73°C for both extruders used for this print
  • If you change the tool # you load the PETG* into you must set that tool number in the Printer Settings > Multiple Extruders > Support material/raft/skirt extruder field

*DRY YOUR PETG BEFORE PRINTING It will string a bit but drying minimizes it and virtually eliminates the chances of PETG strings interfering with the PLA model.
