A support free modular molded frame for all your artwork
you can assemble part to make a frame for artwork from size A6 to technicaly A0 (tested only up to A4).
Printed in PLA at 0.2mm, 10% infill and 3 wall
No support needed, might need some brim for the corner but i didn't have to use one myslef.
Steps to build your frame :
1) you will need :
- M3*16 bolt
- M3 nut
- M3 heatset insert (optionnal but recommended)
- some twist wire (to secure your artwork onto the frame)
2) select the format you wan't :
I based my design on the A format norm like so (all values are in mm) :
for example if you wan't to print an A5 frame, you will need :
- 4 corner (regular if you use nut or heatset insert if you use them)
- 2 “Frame_210”
- 2 “Frame_148”
And if you wan't to print and A4 frame, you will just need to print 4 “Frame_148” instead of 2
(Because the A format norm is based on doubling one of the two side for each tier).
3) print it
to print the frame, place your stl like this :

And it should not requier any support
4) Assembly
Now that you have all your pieces you can assemble everything
if you printed Corner with heatset insert, you can set it like that :

now you can assemble the corner and the side like so :
with heatset insert :

With Bolt :

Assembly with the bolt can be tricky, if i make a V2 i will make nut slot for easier assembly.
Do the same for all the side
now you have your full frame :

If you are going bigger than A5 you might need to join 2 side together, so just use M3 bolts and M3 nuts and it will be perfect :)
you can now glue on the different molded pieces like so :

For this you just need to glue the molded pieces on the little spike (as you can see on the image below) , they should fit nicely, if not, it might not be the good spot :)

i will make a new set of molded pieces in a next post.
you can now fit your artwork + a piece of cardboard on the back and secure it with some twist wire like so (might work on a more elegant solution if i make a V2) :

A congrat you have now a nice framed Artwork :)

PS :
If you wan't to make your own molded pieces, here is the template i use :
