This is a two-in-one project of a Klipper box and a macro pad.

Klipper box was designed for a Pi 4 and a touch screen from Big Tree Tech.

Macro pad features 5 buttons and 5 LEDs that could be programmed to run macros and show status.

Both are shaped to fit each other, but each function independently and thus each could be adopted separately, i.e., you can build and run just the macro pad for your existing Klipper system.

Bring your own components, for macro pad:

  • 5X Button switches - Cherry MX compatible
  • 5X LEDs - 5x2mm rectangular LEDs
  • 5X 1K Ohm resistors
  • Dupont female connectors and housings
  • Wires, M3*6 screws, etc.

Required components for Klipper box:

  • Raspberry Pi 4
  • Big Tree Tech PI TFT43 V2.1
  • Mini push-button switch
  • 8X M2.5x6 mm screws
  • 4X M2.5x10 standoffs (female to male)

Files to print:

  • You need 2 ‘loc pin’s for macro pad.
  • To use the Klipper box without macro pad, print 2 ‘legs’ parts to plug the bottom holes.
  • Keycaps are optional, and provided as examples for your customization.
  • Parts will hold together loosely by friction. You might want to use some glue.

Notes on the macro pad:

To use the macro pad, your printer.cfg needs modification. First, check if your system has two lines below, to see if it has an active Raspberry Pi MCU process that is named as ‘rpi’:

[mcu rpi]
serial: /tmp/klipper_host_mcu

If it isn't the case, please refer to this Klipper's guide to activate it and add the lines above in the printer.cfg manually:

https://www.klipper3d.org/RPi_microcontroller.html

Second, add the following line in your printer.cfg to activate the macropad.cfg:

[include macropad.cfg]

Afterwards, upload this macropad.cfg to your system.

Reboot the system and have fun!
