Trying to stay organized but can't keep in mind what you put into your Ikea Trofast trays? These little tags may help you organizing and finding your stuff more easily. They snap tightly to the brim and won't move anywhere when handling the trays.
Files
Ikea_Trofast_Tag_blank.stl contains a blank tag that you can label by hand (e.g. with a sharpie or label stickers)
Ikea_Trofast_Tag_txt-example.f3d is an Autodesk Fusion file that contains embossed example text, that you can adjust to your needs (see instruction further down).
Printing recommendation
- Material: PLA (I suppose you can use any material, but I've only tested with PLA)
- Orientation: Print “face down” (flat label part on print bed)
- Support: needed for overhang
- When printing with embossed text: add manual support only to overhang part, otherwise the text part might be filled in with support (at least this is what happened to me using Bambu slicer)
Multicolor embossed text
In order to make the text stand out a little bit more, you can print it in a different color. I recommend either printing the first layer(s) in a different color (switching color on first “flat” layer after embossed part) or only printing this first flat layer in a different color (as you can see in the pictures).
I don't recommend only filling in the letters with a different color. At least in my case it turned out a bit messy.
Customizable Fusion file
The Fusion file contains some sample text that you can customize to your need:
- Open the sketch layer named “TAG_txt”

- Double-click on text
- Adjust text to your need
- Close sketch
If you haven't used Fusion before: there is a free private use “maker” license available.
