Several variants of the Stingray tile that can be used to create the classic Fish Scales tiling (among others).
The traditional Stingray tile is made of 3 circular arcs: one convex (180º) and two concave (90º & 90º). It is a neat classic design, but it is quite difficult to “play” with this tile, since circular arcs can fit in too many ways.
For that reason, I've developed a script that let me explore “discrete versions” of the Stingray tile. The first one, dodecagonal, is quite similar to the original tile, but easier to fit. Far more simple and interesting is the octagonal version of the tile, which is the one I recommend.
I provide “decorated” versions of the tiles that can be used to understand their geometric properties (or just for aesthetic reasons!).
You can get any other polygonal version using the OpenScad script I've included in this repository.
