You need to cut the original (broken) hinge. Use a caliper and scribe a line 8mm from the base: Cut at that line and use a file to remove the protruding piece that's left: Now you can glue on the replacement piece: I used CA glue.
The original handle was glued onto some threads, but I was able to remove it with a bit of force. The replacement handle has an M14.5 x 1.5 thread and fits snugly—it seems to hold well even without glue.
