CBR650F Blinker Flush Mount

When you remove the OEM turn signals, it leaves a large pocket in the fairings which makes it really annoying for mounting flush mount blinkers, the blinkers I went with just uses double sided tape so I just needed a part that fills in the recess and allows the wires to pass through. 

How I Designed This (Learned it from PistonPin's post for his CBR300R adapter)

Step 1:

Removed the factory turn signals

Step 2:

Slid a piece of paper into the fairing and traced out the shape of the hole on the bottom of the recess

Step 3 :

Took a picture of the trace normal to the piece of paper, and measured the widest and longest parts.

Step 4:

Imported the picture into OnShape and scaled the picture to match the dimensions, then traced a line to match the outline. 

Step 5:

Extruded the shape and printed it with minimal infill, then placed the part into the fairing and noticed the recess had a draft, so I printed some iterations and found that the draft was ~3 degrees. 

(Yes my fairings are cracked, I low sided, that's what set this whole project into motion, the OEM signals are way too expensive for how ugly they are)

Step 6:

Once I got the part fitting well I traced the curvature of the fairing onto the part.  

Step 7:

Then I created a plane and tilted it to match the tilt of the tracing of the fairing in step 6, I did this by measuring the height of the traced line in the front most point and the rear most point, and tilted the plane to match. Then also did the same with the heights of the widest points as well.  

Step 8:

Then added a hole for the wires of the turn signals to pass through with a chamfer and fillet.

Step 9:

Fit the part to into the recess with double sided tape.
