THIS IS A BETA MODEL!!

I designed the Servo Mount footprint to match the stationary mount of Filametrix, However, this design choice requires attaching the mount to the extrusion before installing the servo, as there isn't enough clearance for installation beforehand.

The hole spacing in the servo mount is the same as that of the stationary mount, ensuring compatibility with Gantry Backers.

Required Hardware:

  • 1 MG90s servo
  • 2 M2x10mm self-tapping screws
  • 1 servo arm mounting screw (typically included with the servo)
  • 1 M3x16 BHCS
  • 2 M3 nuts
  • 2 M3 SHCS (Lengths: 6mm for no backers, 10mm for titanium backers, 12mm for MGN9 rails)
  • 2 T-nuts or hammer head nuts for extrusion mount

Parts to Print:

Servo Arm: The standard version provides the same range of adjustability as the fixed depressor mount. The XL version adds an extra 10mm of drop.

Servo Mount: The Open Top version is recommended unless the depressor pin is within 8mm of the short end of the servo arm. In this case, use the Enclosed Mount to provide additional support.

Assembly Steps:

Attach the Servo Mount: Secure the servo mount to the gantry using the appropriate T-nuts and M3 SHCS for your configuration. If using cable chains, mount the servo to a vertical extrusion to avoid collisions.

Prepare the Servo Arm:

  • Insert one M3 nut into the slot at the depressor end of the servo arm.
  • Fully thread the second M3 nut onto the M3x16 BHCS.
  • Insert the M3x16 BHCS into the slot, engaging the captured M3 nut in the servo arm.

Install the Servo Arm:

  • Open Top Mount: Press-fit the servo arm onto the servo gear and secure it with the included mounting screw.
  • Enclosed Mount: Thread the servo arm through the opening in the mount. While holding the servo at a slight angle, press-fit the servo arm onto the gear and secure it with the mounting screw.

Attach the Servo to the Mount:

  • Use the two M2x10 screws to secure the servo to the mount.

Adjust the M3x16 BHCS:

  • Adjust the depth of the M3x16 BHCS to properly engage the cutting arm of your tool head.
  • Once the desired depth is set, tighten the M3 nut to lock the BHCS in place.

Notes:

  • The Open Top Servo Mount is ideal for most configurations, but if the depressor pin needs to be within 8mm of the short end, the enclosed version will provide the necessary support.
  • Ensure all screws are tightened properly to avoid any mechanical failures during use.
