Door Keeper - Keep Doors Ajar

Why do you need this? I dunno. That's for you to decide. I made this for me for a specific need but figured others might like it.

This is for doors between 1 ¼ inches and ~2 inches thick. See technical drawing for reference.

This will be a very tight fit on a 2 inch door. You can heat up the side flex joints a bit and flex them a bit more if needed.*

This might scuff the paint on the door. I used a bit of cloth gaffer's tape for padding and more friction.

It will also dent wooden door frames so be warned. You can line it up with the latch plate so it hits the metal, but I can't guarantee that won't be damaged either.

You can tie a string on this and the door nob to keep this with a door. I guess you could also add accessories to this (e.g another handle, latch, etc.) in the hole feature thing. See technical drawing for dimensions.

Print Settings:

Material: PETG for best results (allows flexing).

PLA: won't flex as much and could snap on thicker doors, but you can try it anyway.

TPU: might be too floppy and won't grip, and will take forever to print. You can try it anyway.

Other materials: Who knows!

Walls: 3 or 4

Infill: 100%

Supports: None

Other Settings: You know your printer best

Print time on X1C: ~33mins

Layer Height: Whatever. I recommend the max your printer can handle so it prints faster. This isn't winning awards for looking good.

Note: Properly rated interior doors offer significant fire protection. Keeping interior doors open or even ajar between connected rooms/corridors will decrease fire protection and survivability. Keeping bedroom doors closed all the way at night saves lives. Be mindful when using this Door Keeper. Also, check your smoke alarms and CO detectors regularly!
