Require:
8mm hole in shaft/24mm hole in motor
14mm Hub Spacer (Bigger, will only require new Magnet holder)
MT6701 Encoder (15mm x 18mm)
4 Copper rings (10,5x13,8x0,85. 16,7x20x1,35. 22,4x26,8x1,35. 30,5x35,8x1,75)
4 Pen springs (Cut in half to get 8)
8 4mm Ball bearings (Headset from a old bike)
8 Thin wires (Used those from the original encoder in the hoverwheel - 5each wheel)
8 Wires (Wires that don't go into the shaft)
Prepare:
Solder thin wires to the encoder and cut a bit of the PCB off to clear the wires (See picture!) and file a bit in the Encoder Mount to clear the wires under the encoder.
Solder thin wire to each copper ring, mount rings in the Lower Slipring and twist the wires.
Poke holes in the Upper Slipring for the wires with a solder iron (not on top, in the sides near top. Not too big) and drill with a 2mm drill to get a better hole.
Solder wire to each ball bearing, grind them for the solder to stick (!Careful not to grind the side facing the copper ring, the ring will wear out fast!).
Cut the springs in half, but makes sure they stick out of the hole a bit.
Slide the spring over a wire and put the wire through the Upper Slipring, do this for all 8 holes and connect them on top (See pictures)
Insert a encoder magnet into the Magnet Holder, press the Upper Slipring over it and feed the wires through. (I now solder the wires to the QR Connecter while the
Mount the QR Connecter into the QR Hub, solder the wires from the Upper Slipring, press it against the Magnet Holder to make sure the wires clear.
Assembly:
- Press the Encoder Mount into the shaft, from the front feed the encoder and slipring wires.
- Press the encoder into the Encoder Mount, make sure the wires under the PCB clear, hold the wires from the exit of the shaft to keep the encoder in place.
- Pull the wires for the slipring and steer it in place, make sure the encoder is in the center of the hole and the encoder is flat.
- Put on the Magnet Holder and screw it down.
- Mount the Wheel with the QR Hub and Drive
