DMR Printing Project Overview

First and foremost, I did not design the original model from the game. I am simply making a printable version of it so people can have their own physical one.

I printed mine at 200% scale with no supports (sounds crazy but it worked). I scaled the sizes of the laser intakes and fluid intakes down (relative to 200%) by 5%. I used Elmers Glue-All to attach all the pieces together and left it dry overnight. (Obviously, I wouldn't use hot glue since it is plastic but do what you want). I used a piece of foam with a hole cut out to rest the model in to dry because it can't stand up right.

Modeled using Tinkercad

Printing/Building Instructions

The best way to build this model is to attach the other models separately to the main two structure models:

  1. Print the 2 main structure parts.

  2. Print 6 laser intake parts.

  3. Print 4 fluid intake parts.
I printed the laser intakes and fluid intakes at 5% less scale than I did for the 2 main structure pieces so they would fit inside, but I think something around 3-2 percent smaller would still fit.

  4. Glue 2 main structure parts together. Make sure they are the correct way around. Look at the full DMR model to see what the finished version should look like.

  5. Glue all 6 laser intake parts to structure in the large holes.

  6. Glue all 4 fluid intake parts to structure in the smaller holes. (on sides of structure)

And you're done!

Make sure to check out Quantum Science, they make some pretty cool stuff!
