FTC Into The Deep DIY Basket

Overview

This is a DIY version of the FTC Into the Deep basket. Perfect if your team cannot afford to purchase a game field. Fully parametric. All parts are easily to source on Amazon or at a hardware store.

There is a parametric OnShape file if you wish to change any dimensions to fir the parts you have here. Make a copy and you can edit the variables.

Required parts

• Basket x2
• Base x1
• Dowel 1.2m long x1 (Size can be changed in Onshape Document)
• Small wood screws (Size can be changed in Onshape Document)
• Some kind of weight. Our team uses a weightlifting plate which we slide on the dowel.

Instructions

     1. Print the following parts (Print with 2-3 walls, 5-20% infill):

• Basket x2
• Base x1

     2. Mark the following dimensions on your dowel:

• 0mm (Base)
• 670mm (Basket 1)
• 1108 (Basket 2)

     3. Slide 1 basket on the dowel until the top edge reaches the 'Basket 1’ mark. Secure the                 basket with 3 wood screws or similar.

     4. Slide the other basket on the dowel until the top edge reaches the 'Basket 2’ mark.                      Secure the basket with 3 wood screws or similar.

     5. If you are using a weight plate, slide the weight onto the dowel now. Slide the base on                the ‘Base’ of your dowel. Secure with 2 wood screws or similar.

If you wish the change the dimensions of the baskets to fit a different dowel, you can use our parametric OnShape document here.

     1. Make a copy.

     2. Navigate to the Configurations tab on the left.

     3. You can change shape of the dowel using the drop down menu.

     4. To change the dimensions of the dowel, navigate to the User variables folder. Double click          on a variable and enter a new value. Click the green tick to save the value.

     5. There are also some other variables in the Driving variables folder. Change these                          variables with caution. It may result in breaking the geometry of the parts. CTRL + Z is              your friend here.
