A simple bracket that with some zip ties and tape can seccurly add an m5 mounting point to any round tubing. Origionaly designed to put water bottle cages on my fork they have been usefull elsewhere on the bike as well including on my fame, seatpost as well as handlebars and fork to make a kind of custom cbage support thing. At only mm thick these are far lower profile than other options on the market such as topeak versamounts and in my experience more secure
Suitable for all your bikepacking and other mounting needs!
Mount will take a standard m5 nyloc nut in the back (dimentions can be found with images), just make sure to select aproprietly sized bolts for what you are attching, I have found that standard t25 brake rotor bolts are perfect.
Printed mine in petg for beter uv resistance, Print hot to improve layer adheasion with as many walls as possible, Supports are built in to the model and can be broken off once printed. This design may work well with brick layers but I have not tried it myself.
Directions for use:
To use use mesure the diameter of the tube you want to mount to (for large tubing and tubing with a changing contour like on many frames a radius gauge may be best), Download that size and print it, gently tap in your nut with a hammer and cut a peice of foam mounting tape to put on the back - this will help with adheasion and make installing easier. Then you can use zipp ties to securley attach and compress the tape. I like to use some good quality electrical tape behind mine to prevent damage to the paint and avoid leaving any adhesive residue behind. See pictures for examples
Mine have been in use for well over 18 months and many thousands of kilomters with no issues often on quite rough MTB trails. I Only broke one of them when I had a crash that resulted in my handlebars contacting the water bottle on my toptube with the weight of the bike behind it. Be reasonable with what weight you put on these, they are only plastic after all, I have not atempted to use with cargo cages or any load over 1kg - use more mounts if possible for bulkier and heavier items.
I will add files for the half height version seen in photos on the lower part of the seatpost soon
I have provided a number of diffrent sizes from 16.2 (minimum for the way this was designed) up to 175mm (practical limit for zip ties) but if you need more you can edit the freecad file provided, simply change the cell a1 in the spredsheet to your desired tubing diameter. Be warned - it is a poorly designed model and it is not advised to change the diameter in by large amounts less you break it.
