Modular Carbon Fiber Articulated Arm & Clamp

I designed this mounting system to help me position a phone, a small camera, or even a flashlight while working in the workshop. It keeps my hands free to document projects, capture overhead shots, or simply provide better lighting where I need it.

Design & Functionality:

• Adjustable Clamp: The two jaws of the clamp slide directly on the carbon fiber tube. This allows for a very wide opening while maintaining high rigidity.

• Magnetic Mounting: Includes a dedicated base designed for strong Neodymium Cup Magnets, making it easy to attach the arm to metal cabinets or machinery.

• Carbon Fiber Build: Designed for lightweight and stiff Carbon Fiber Tubes (12mm and 8mm).

• Tube Length: The tubes can be shortened significantly if a more compact setup is needed. However, for my use case, keeping them at their original length worked perfectly.

• Friction Swivel: Features an adjustable friction mount that lets you reposition the arm quickly without needing to loosen screws every time.

Technical Requirements:

• Tubes: 1x Ø12mm and 1x Ø8mm carbon fiber tubes.

• Hardware: * M3 screws (18mm and 30mm) and nuts.

• M6 hex head screw (50-60mm) and nut.

• Magnets: Neodymium Round Cup Magnets (1/4"-20 threaded stud).

• Printing: ASA or PETG recommended for strength.

• Pro-tip: Use 8mm and 12mm reamers for a precise fit of the tubes into the printed parts.
