NIKO PR20 switch repair

The NIKO PR20 switch are known to be sensitive to failure.

In nearly all case the rocker mechanism inside the switch snapped (shown on pic 4)

This part replaces the snapped rocker for the single PR20 switch.

I print in ASA

Add support material, style Organic, and mark don’t support bridges.

As always make sure you disconnect the mains power (and check if it is really off) before removing or mounting the failed switch.

Mark the position of the cables going into the switch.

Remove the metal plate (pic 1) by straitening the 4 metal tabs.

(pic 2) shows the metal plate removed

Remove the top cover  (pic 3)

Remove the broken rocker (pic 4) and keep the spring. You do not need the metal clip from the old rocker (just keep it somewhere in case I decide to use it in a future design because I do not know yet what the weak spots are of this design)

Place the spring in the new rocker and push it all the way down. (pic 5) In case the hole is too narrow you can use a drill 3mm drill to make it work or change your print settings because the hole is wide enough in the design.

Place the new rocker in your switch and place the top cover back. (pic 6). Test the switch to see if you hear the mechanical click again.

Re-attach the metal plate. Put some pressure on it, as it holds the top cover down and bend the metal tabs (pic 7)

Now you can install the switch back
