This is V2 of the “linkable tool holders” that I have published previously. The updated version will attach to the Festool MFT-3 using a remixed shorter version of the Festool MFT-3 nut in the same principle as the original Festool accessories. I focused on the “slim version” initially, as I thought it would be beneficial to keep the footprint small when attached to the MFT-3. Let me know if there is an interest for adapting the “normal depth” version as well.

The linking feature makes this look very clean when connected in a row.

These models are based on an initial concept from Wiha, but is modelled from scratch adding compatibility with MFT-3 and a change of size from full depth to a ½ depth slim version. Check out http://www.tlbx3d.com for additional great holders in the same system. These will not link to the MFT-3, but will still work together if you plan to have it on the wall.

Flexible Mounting Options

The holders can be mounted directly on the wall, on the MFT-3 T-slot and on IKEA Skadis (Skådis) pegboard.

Wall mounting

Use regular wood screws. The holes will fit up to 5mm screws with screw head diameter up to 9.4mm.

MFT-3 Mounting

For use with the MFT-nut, a M5 x 16mm socket cap screw will fit perfectly with a nut on the backside. Remember to use the remixed MFT-nut with 19.5mm length.

IKEA Skadis (Skådis) pegboard

Use the attached Skadis adapter and a M4 x 10mm machine screw for mounting directly to the IKEA Skadis.

French Cleat

Use the attached french cleat adapter and M4 or M5 screws for mounting to a french cleat wall. There are three version for different screw options, either with direct threading or with a M5 nut.

Tic-tac-toe, in the spirit of the contest

In the spirit of the contest I also added a domino tray with a little treat in the bottom - a Festool domino tic-tac-toe game! Use the 4mm dominos as game pieces and play a game about who is doing the cleanup of the workshop!

Notes on V1 → V2 changes

Changes compared to the V1 are mainly the addition of MFT-nut compatibility. I did also increase the recessed screw hole to allow for M5 socket cap screws. I have done test prints, but let me know if you notice anything that needs to be changed.

Printing notes

Have had very good results with either Protopasta Matte fiber HTPLA and Add:North HT-PLA Pro Matte. Prints well without support, but in some cases supports can be used to avoid artifacts in the mounting holes. Does not require any special infill and I have usually used 15% infill.

Happy printing!
