This model was inspired by @JonEstlander_525017's Rapoo E6100 Wireless Keyboard protective travel case available here.

I designed the model to have a travel case for my Rapoo 9310M keyboard-mouse combo that I carry around with my Steam Deck. The case is 37cm long, which is just 5cm longer than the Steam Deck case, allowing the Deck and the Rapoo case to be packed within the laptop compartment of a carry bag.

Disclaimer: this case's intended use is to pack the keyboard-mouse combo into a single container, which can be easily fitted next to the Steam Deck or other handheld computer into the laptop compartment of a travel bag. Walls are 2mm wide, which don't provide 100% protection when the case is used in itself and is dropped to the ground from heights. The case is intended to replace the keyboard-mouse combo's factory cardboard box, which is too long to fit into most laptop backpacks.

Features:
  • Printable with small print area 3D printers (part heights are within 150mm),
  • Dedicated slots for the keyboard and mouse, with an additional container slot for accessories (cables, batteries, etc.; or my Steam Deck compact docking stand),
  • The keyboard slot is slightly wider and deeper than the keyboard itself, to allow adding protective material (I've added a thin sheet of foam in both ends and to the wide wall of the center part after assembly),
  • The mouse slot fits the mouse included with its original cardboard box packaging, and also features a hole in the bottom for easier removal of the mouse from the slot,
  • The upper part (Case_B) can also be used as a desk gadget holder when the case is not packed together,
  • The center part's shaped to support securing other accessories with a rubber band or velcro tape to the outside,
  • Easy assembly (glue gun recommended).
Printing:

The whole model comes out a little more than 500g (exact value depends on print settings), with 35 hours estimated print time with the following settings:

  • Layer height: 0.20mm
  • Infill: 5-10% grid (comes with speed preset)
  • Outer perimeters: 2
  • Preset: 0.20mm speed
  • Orientation: print all parts vertically:
    • Case_A laid on its closed end, no supports required,
    • Case_B laid on its wider end (keyboard slot opening faced down), no supports required (your printer should be able to handle the overhang at the top),
    • Center part (Joint) with any end facing down, adding tree supports to help with the inside (see the uploaded .3mf project file, also see Assembly** part of this guide).
Assembly:

To assemble the model, simply use a glue gun to fix Case_B to the center part, considering the orientation of the keyboard slot (** I've oriented my center part print to allow gluing the outer part to the end of the Joint which was supported during the print, this allows covering up the supported surface).

The other part of the model (Case_A) is a standalone part, load your accessories in and fit the part into the other end of the assembly. Tolerance allows easy assembly and disassembly of the case.

Fix any extra accessories (phone power adapter, etc.) to the outside of the center part with a thick rubberband, put the case in your laptop backpack next to your handheld gaming device, and you're good to go! :)
